Bucci Industries is proud to announce the success of two students who undertook research projects leading to thesis work with the collaboration and support of the company, particularly the Bucci Automations Divisions IEMCA and Giuliani.

Lorenzo Caselli and Maurizio Versari, both Master's graduates in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bologna, were recently awarded during the 47th edition of the UCIMU Awards, held on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, in Milan at the association's headquarters. The UCIMU Foundation promotes economic and scientific research within UCIMU - Systems for production, the association of Italian manufacturers of machine tools, robots, and automation.

The UCIMU Awards aim to promote synergy between universities and companies and enhance the competitiveness of the Italian industry through research and development activities, particularly in the field of machine tools. Each year, internship reports or theses related to topics in mechanical manufacturing, such as the design, research, and development of machine tools, production systems, robots, and automation in general, as well as the study and analysis of employed technologies and organizational and management methodologies, are awarded.

Award-winning Projects in Collaboration with Bucci Industries

The thesis projects supported by Bucci Industries won in the "Special Awards for Industrial Impact" category, dedicated to theses born from collaboration with entities associated with UCIMU and characterized by high applicative interest in the industrial field.

The title of Lorenzo Caselli's thesis is "Study of Methodologies for Condition Monitoring of Automatic Bar Feeders for CNC Lathes". Developed with the guidance of Prof. Marco Troncossi, Ph.D. student Simone Rosa, and Ing. Marco Rizzitelli, Mechanical Design Engineer at Bucci Automations - IEMCA Division, the experimental project focuses on the lathe-bar feeder system, particularly on predicting potential criticalities with a direct impact on productivity, through the collection, analysis, and correlation of data.
